Night Photography Assignment 06

First I'd like to thank Eric for the compliments from yesterday's shot. I haven't done much night photography before. So it is beginner's luck. I had also never used my camera on manual before either. I had always used aperature priority or shutter priority. I'm learning that the metering cannot be trusted and thus having the ability to over/under-expose with full manual mode really makes a difference. Another thing is that Granville is truly a very photogenic place so it makes it easier to take decent looking shots :P

Although there are five more photos coming (including this one), i'm afraid that i put all my favorites up first. :)

Oh and this photo is from downtown vancouver.

This one is my favourite Vancouver night shot so far. I have meant to compliment the others as they've been posted, but for some reason haven't gotten around to it until now.

It seems to me that your very first posted night shot was of fan tan alley, and it was pretty nice too.

I just went back to see that Fan Tan Alley shot again and read what Eric said about the shot making him want to visit. Your response, Scott, did not display enough pride in the beautiful city of Victoria. Shame on you! You obviously take it for granted. Since Victoria is my adopted home, for reasons LIKE Fan Tan Alley (which is incredibly cool but by no means the only historically and architecturally interesting site here), the beauty of nature that is abundant, and the creative people who are also abundant, I can tell Eric that he should indeed visit the wonderful city of Victoria.

Recently I was walking downtown here and met a sweet young couple from Paris who asked me for directions. They were gorgeous and fashionable, obviously in love, and effusive in their praise of Victoria. Let that be your guide, Eric. And Scott....shape up! :-)

I've looked back at the above comment and am worried that I sounded like a jerk. I apologize if I offended you, which was definitely not my intent. I was meaning to be amusing while promoting the beauties of Victoria. Your night photos are great is all I should be saying.

heh no worries at all joan. I'm not offended at all. I totally agree that Victoria is a beautiful city. But Eric, make sure you visit in the summer since it can get a little wet at other times ;)
