In chronological fashion, here's a pic on the same day trip i made around the Central District of Hong Kong. After ascending the Mid-Levels (a community built on the side of a mountain with escalators that run all the way up) and on the way down, I passed by this church. The neat thing was that it was completely surrounded by highrises. It was literally right in the middle. Tucked away. Like a little secret.

Unfortunately I can't remember its name. I did go inside to look around though.

Not the strongest juxtaposition but you get the idea.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past few days. I've been working on this photo and everytime i've been ready to post it, i find a problem but dont have the energy to fix it. Same thing tonight but i'm just gonna post it.

This photo was taken around the corner from the previous shot of the british police station building. This is the vehicle entrance to the associated prison. I don't think it's active anymore but my aunt told me that when it was, reporters would always congregate here when a high profile prisoner would be transported to or from the prison. This made me think about the countless number of times that this entrace had been photographed for old newspapers and tabloids. Gave me a bit of a chill too. Kind of like the feeling you might get from going to a scene where a horrific crime had taken place in the past. although not as intense i guess.

i wanted to present this door as a mix of the above mentioned feelings. The desaturation was to try and mimick an old newspaper photograph. The overall vignette and clouds were there to try and make the scene a little colder and bring out the feeling of "evil" (cliched) which passed through this door. Although i dont think managed to achieve all that i wanted (especially with the obviously photoshopped clouds haha :P :P :P), I'm just gonna post it anyways :D

PS. sweet. i managed to post this 1min before the next day. BOOYAH. And i just wanted to say that sometimes i get really baffled when i look at the settings that i used for certain photos. ISO 1600 on a sunny day?!? what's going on....

The Past

Ok back to Hong Kong! Maybe I should've posted the photos from China/HK that i wanted to post in chronological order... oh well too late for that.

I think this was an old police station. The building is located in the Central district on Hong Kong Island. I just liked the look of the building. Hong Kong has it's own personality to me. It neither feels like China nor does it feel like a former British colony. But this building is obviously very British. I guess for me, this building provides a strong glimpse into the past. It's easy to get swept away by the busy metropolitan characteristics of the city, so this building was a nice reminder.

Maybe there are lots of buildings like this in Hong Kong, but I didn't see too many.
